The TRANSFORM program was designed by and for faculty from groups historically under-represented in science and medicine (designated URM) as defined by the NIH. Our goal is to ensure that URM faculty at the associate professor level acquire the skills and experiences needed to advance to and thrive in more senior faculty and leadership positions (e.g., Professor).

This innovative program:

  • Combines culturally responsive longitudinal leadership training, mentoring, and coaching tailored to mid-career faculty.
  • Fosters a network of support, encouragement, and peer-peer learning among URM faculty.
  • Unites the expertise and educational modalities of five institutions committed to the success of URM faculty.
  • Positions URM faculty to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment at their own academic institution and beyond.

TRANSFORM programming builds off of the topics discussed at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Mid-Career Minority Faculty Leadership Conference. Upon acceptance into the TRANSFORM program you are required to attend the AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Leadership Conference in Washington DC in September or October 2024 and in 2025.

AAMC Conference attendance in 2024: Scholars are to attend the conference with funding support from their home institution or scholars can support their own attendance, if necessary. After attendance at the 2024 Mid-Career seminar, all TRANSFORM-related activities and expenses will be covered by the program.
