Is this program virtual or in-person?
All components of TRANSFORM will be virtual, with the exception of your required attendance of the 2024 and 2025 AAMC Mid-Career Seminars (exact dates to come).

Can more than one faculty member from the same institution apply?
More than one faculty member from the same Institution may apply.

Does “Sponsoring Sites” mean that only faculty from these organizations can apply?
No, Scholars from any institution that has an AAMC membership are welcome to apply. The Sponsoring Sites indicate where the members of our executive committee are located and are the institutions sponsoring the program.

Can only faculty from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) participate in TRANSFORM?
TRANSFORM is open to faculty members from Institutions that have an AAMC membership, and is not restricted to HBCUs.

I do not identify as being from a historically under-represented minority in science and medicine, can I still apply??
If you do not identify with one of the groups listed on the NIH website you are not eligible for the TRANSFORM program. This program is developed to increase the numbers of these specific groups in the biomedical workforce as they currently make up less than 3% of the senior academic faculty workforce in the US. We appreciate your understanding.

What costs are there associated with TRANSFORM?
The only cost associated with TRANSFORM is travel and attendance at the 2024 AAMC Mid-Career Conference in Washington DC by either the scholar’s home institution or the scholar themselves.

Is there a person I can talk to if additional questions arise?
Yes, if you have any additional questions, feel free to email this account transform@pitt.edu and we would be happy to set up a time to talk.
