Administrative Assistant: Omayra Mercado,

Dr. Soto-Greene is a tenured Professor and Executive Vice Dean at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She has amassed over 35 years of experience in all aspects of medical education and administration. She is committed to advancing the school’s health equity and social justice education and training of faculty, residents, and students on implicit bias. She has been continuously funded by federal and private agencies since the early 1990’s and has passionately worked to create unequaled opportunity for thousands of Hispanic and other individuals underrepresented in medicine and science. These programs support individuals beginning at the pre-college level through medical school faculty, contributing to the career advancement of faculty underrepresented in medicine. Dr. Soto-Greene has developed, implemented, and led a number of individualized and group faculty development activities for which she serves as a mentor. Equally important, Dr. Soto-Greene has been a leader in disseminating best practices to other medical schools. In her role, she chaired the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) Committee on the Best Practices for the Recruitment and Retention of Minority Faculty, all of whose recommendations were successfully adopted including the establishment of the RBHS Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion. For a decade, she has collaborated and led the Centers of Excellence Consortium on minority faculty development. Dr. Soto-Greene is a past Chair for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Diversity and Inclusion. She is currently a member of the AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Development Advisory Committee. She has also been the proud recipient of numerous awards recognizing her contributions to advancing diversity in medical education and faculty. Most notably, the AAMC awarded Dr. Soto-Greene with the 2019 Herbert W. Nickens Award.
