Undergrad Cert in Clinical Research - Admissions
The Clinical Research Certificate program will accept two cohorts of students annually: one in the early Fall semester, which will begin certificate requirements in the Spring semester, and one in early Spring semester, which will begin certificate requirements in the Fall semester. Students will be notified via email of admission decisions approximately one month following the close of the application cycle and before the start of the course registration period for the following semester.

Students must first be admitted to a bachelor’s degree program at Pitt. Students may then apply to the Institute for Clinical Research Education for admission to the certificate program. Students must be in good academic standing to be considered.
Admitted students must:
- Have a high level of interest in health science research
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Be able to complete the required coursework within their remaining time at Pitt (be in their 2nd or 3rd year at Pitt)

Academic Information
Applicants will be asked to note their cumulative GPA to date. They will also be asked to list previously completed coursework
Personal Statement
The brief personal statements should describe why the why the clinical research certificate program is important to you and what motivates you to apply as well as any prior research or relevant experience you have. These experiences may be formal or informal and may include volunteer work, internships, coursework, or other activities. Clinical research experience is not required for admission to this program.
References
The online application will require at least one letter of recommendation to be uploaded. The letter(s) should address your academic abilities or work ethic, your preparation for or interest in clinical research, and/or any relevant skills, experiences, or personal qualities that would contribute to your success in the program. There is no required length or format.
The Undergraduate Certificate in Clinical Research Program works in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh’s Pre-Health Resource Center to support students who are interested in health-related careers. The Pre-Health Resource Center offers advising for all students interested in pursuing advanced education in health careers. Their knowledgeable and experienced advisors are also available to answer questions for prospective Undergraduate Certificate in Clinical Research students and to provide application support resources.
