MS in Med Ed Alum Dr. Edward Wu Named Assistant Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency, Pennsylvania Hospital
Edward “Teddy” Wu, MD, MS, was recently named the Assistant Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Pennsylvania Hospital, part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Wu, who is currently the Medical Director of the J. Edwin Wood Clinic at Pennsylvania Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, graduated in 1996 from Harvard University with a degree in biochemical sciences and earned his MD from the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in 2001, along with an MPA from the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in Health Policy and Management. Dr. Wu went on to complete a residency in General Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital/Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2004 and then a general internal medicine fellowship here at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006. During his fellowship at Pitt, Dr. Wu completed the Master of Science in Medical Education degree program here at the ICRE.
Dr. Wu became Assistant Director of the Wood Clinic in 2013 and then Medical Director in 2017. He was the 2019 recipient of the Viner Teaching Award from the housestaff of the Department of Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital. He has also been recognized by America's Top Doctors for 2017 and named in Philadelphia Magazine's annual “Top Doctors” issues from 2018 to 2020. Dr. Wu has published articles on physical examination skills, procedural skills of medical students, and perceptions of medical student abuse.
